Patricia E. Aquaro

Patricia E. Aquaro is Managing Director and Head of Risk & Professional Excellence within Global Talent & Development at BNY Mellon. She is responsible for developing learning solutions to cultivate a strong risk culture and enhance the professional skills of employees across the company.

Previously, Ms. Aquaro was Credit Portfolio Manager for Broker-Dealers, Alternative Funds and Finance Companies in the Global Financial Services Credit Division. In 2007, she concluded a high-priority initiative for the division by establishing a central group to manage affiliate relationships across the institution and ensure compliance with Regulation 23 A & B, which governs transactions between a bank and its affiliates. She was also responsible for the integration of existing portfolios and new credit exposures resulting from the merger of The Bank of New York and Mellon Financial.

After completing the Bank’s formal credit training program, she joined Global Client Management and developed a new centralized credit underwriting function for the North American Banks Division. She subsequently implemented this model across all groups within Financial Institutions. Ms. Aquaro joined The Bank of New York Mellon in January 1996 through the acquisition of JP Morgan’s global custody business.

Ms. Aquaro is an active member of WIN, BNY Mellon’s Women’s Initiative Network, and a member of The Women’s Bond club. Previously, Ms. Aquaro served as a member of the Financial Institutions Portfolio Management Committee and as a Steering Committee member for BNY Mellon’s Tri-party Market Practices Reform Initiatives. For three consecutive years she served as the Co-Chair of the Annual Women United in Philanthropy Luncheon committee and also served as Secretary on the Board of Directors for CMCAS – Capital Markets Credit Analyst Society.

Ms. Aquaro earned her B.A. degree in Mathematics from Manhattan College and currently resides in Manhattan, New York.

Matt Bertman

Matt Bertman has been passionate about his work in in the field of talent management and leadership development for over 20 years. As an experienced Human Resource executive Matt has specialized in the areas of leadership development, succession planning, talent management and employee engagement. Matt currently holds of the position of Director, Leadership and Organizational Development for Amerisure Insurance Company where he is responsible for talent management strategies. Matt helped bring Amerisure’s Corporate University to fruition along with driving key strategic talent management and develoopment initiatives.

Prior to joining Amerisure, Matt held the position of National Director, Leadership Development for Pulte Homes where he managed the implementation of management development programs, in addition to creating and disseminating the organization’s training curriculum and e-learning capabilities. In addition, Matt established the Institute for Continuous Learning (ICL) at the time one of the premier corporate universities in the automotive industry. Matt also has served as a change management consultant for Ernst and Young.

Matt has been recognized by Chief Learning Officer Magazine's Learning Practice Awards as a recipient of their Leadership Award. Matt is the author of an ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) Info line entitled "How to Partner". He is also in the proposal stages of a book "Socrates Inc, Ancient Lessons of Management with his father Dr. Stephen Bertman.

Matt graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's degree in American Public Affairs. He also received a Master's degree in Labor and Relations and Human Resource Management from Michigan State. Matt, his wife and three children reside in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

John is a founding partner of the gamification shop, Launchfire. Early on in life John showed promise in the non-existent field of gamification making games out of everything from homework to chopping wood.

Stuck with the unenviable task of training upper management to use SAP John discovered a professional use for his otherwise useless proclivity. He found that by morphing training courses into games he was able to get folks more engaged. At this point he knew he was on to something.

In 1999 John co-founded Launchfire where’s he’s helped design game-based training programs for company’s banking, telco and government clients

Bernie Goldstein is a Vice President & Senior Manager for Global Distribution Sales Effectiveness (Global Sales Training) at Legg Mason. He is also the founder of Goldstein Professional Development.

Prior to Legg Mason, his experience included both learning & development and client facing roles at AllianceBernstein and UBS. He earned his B.A. in history from Columbia University, his B.A. in philosophy from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and his MBA from the University of Florida. He holds the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) designation from the Columbia University Executive Coaching Certification Program. Working from Alpharetta, GA, Zach Green manages the Learning & Development function for the Sales organization at E*TRADE. Having spent his formative years as a financial advisor with Edward Jones, Zach understands the mentality of sales people and emphasizes the inclusion of top sales talent in the development and marketing of training initiatives. His team of five high performing L&D Specialists work across three time zones and support over 500 individuals in nine unique roles with onboarding, launch support, and ongoing development while focusing equally on development, delivery, and evaluation. Zach maintains a CFP® designation and serves as adjunct faculty in online business programs for Liberty University and Washington State University. Winding down each busy week, Zach enjoys woodworking, fitness, and managing his small chicken farm in the Appalachian foothills.

Brian M. Jarvis

Brian has worked in field of commercial banking for over 15 years. Starting in the field at Webster Financial in 2001 he transitioned to Learning & Development in 2011. After 10 years with Webster Financial Brian was recruited to come over to United Bank to help United enter the e-learning environment. In 2017 Brian moved United Bank into the blended learning environment and now oversees the Learning and Development departments’ entire curriculum library as well as their LMS. Brian also works very closely with marketing to create social media content and internal podcasts for communication. Certified in design from TD he has over 6+ years of Learning & Development experience both in financial services and technology companies. His mentor is Craig Hurty who ran shared services in Human Resources at Aetna for 18 years and now serves as United Bank’s Chief Human Resources Officer.

As the Head of Product Education Sharon leads, develops and implements a global learning and development strategy. In this role she builds institutional and individual capabilities as related to products, asset classes and investment themes; aligned with SSGA targeting distribution channels. She also designs curriculum to increase the effectiveness of distribution and investment management professionals in delivering key products and solutions to clients, consultants and prospects.

Previously, Sharon was the Head of Sales Academy Learning Partners for Thomson Reuters. In her role, she ensured consistent learning and sales enablement delivery globally, she managed Learning Partners in Europe as well as Asia where they were the regional advocates and supporters of learning activities; together they worked closely to build and refine Thomson Reuters induction programs, role-based learning and development curricula.

In the past, Sharon ran market strategy for Intellum, a private LMS and collaboration software provider, after having served as technical advisor for a firm developing an eLearning suite of governance and security modules. Previously, she served as SVP for Enterprise Ireland in an international sales role that helped Irish ‘Learning Solution’ companies increase revenue, networks and business partnerships through which she launched the Irish Learning Alliance. Sharon presents on learning topics at global industry conferences and facilitates discussions on innovation, globalization and women in learning. In 2007 Sharon received an 'Executive Certificate in Innovation and Strategy' from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Sharon was also a two-time member of the USFA National gold medal women’s sabre fencing team.

Christa is a Learning & Development leader who focuses on the design and support of solutions that focus on learning initiatives within Abbot Downing, Wealth Investment & Fiduciary Services, Wealth National Sales, and Wells Fargo Investment Institute. In this role, she leads a team of talented, nationally dispersed learning professionals.

She joined Wells Fargo in 2005, and her experience includes the design and delivery of leadership and professional development training, along with leading learning & development teams in both the Online Customer Service and Wells Fargo Customer Connection organizations.

Christa has worked in the learning & development and human resource fields for more than 20 years. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, she worked at Macy’s, a division of Federated Department Stores. Christa’s most recent assignment at Macy’s included managing development programs for high-potential executives and executive trainees.

Christa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, with a Marketing Emphasis, from California State University, Chico. Curtis is a proven performance consultant and a senior learning leader with over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Since 1996, Curtis has enabled Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., Wachovia Securities and Wells Fargo to achieve results through educating their workforce, implementing change initiatives and driving performance improvement initiatives. While working for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., he directly supported the transformation of Schwab's workforce from a transactional service provider to an advice driven consultative selling organization. While at Wells Fargo, he led the skill development and change management efforts necessary to establish an integrated wealth model and to install a team-based contact management system. While at Wachovia Securities, which is now Wells Fargo Advisors, Curtis has been involved with the skill development, change management and performance improvements for initiatives that include two large scale mergers, transition of transactional based advice to an advisory-based model and the implementation of a corporate university.

After growing up and starting his career in Phoenix, Arizona, Curtis currently lives in St. Louis, MO. Along with his partner Susan and children, Lauren and Christopher, he spends his non-working hours enjoying the outdoors, cooking, movies and hanging out with friends. Curtis is also involved in consulting a local public school district, leading a Boy Scout troop and advising 6th graders at his church.
